Why is Prison Reform Critical

.) People from our communities who commit non-violent crimes go to prison and are housed with violent offenders.

.) Prisons are over crowded.

.) Housing of prisoners cost tax payers billions of dollars.

.) Prisons are set up to continue punishing the criminal.  Criminals are punished when they receive their sentencing.  The punishment should end there.

.) African Americans make up the largest population in the prison system.

.) People who do not have the means or financial status to fight the legal system spend time incarcerated, where people who are of higher economical status and higher profile pay their way out of the legal system.
